An Introduction to Jensen Beach, Florida
Located in Florida’s East Coast between Fort Pierce and West Palm Beach, Jensen Beach is known for its pineapple farming. John Laurence Jensen, an immigrant from Denmark, arrived in what is now known as Jensen beach in 1881. It was then when he set up his pineapple plantation. By 1885, Jensen Beach was called “The Pineapple Capital of the World”. Although the pineapple industry was phased out in 1920 due to agricultural and financial issues, the pineapple is still a prevalent symbol for the city. To this day, the citizens of Jensen Beach celebrate the Jensen Beach Pineapple Festival.
